Commander Tom Jones gave his remarks at the service. His subject, "Was it Worth it?" Jones went on to say, "We should commit ourselves to make it worth it. We should insist that America remains the land of the free. A land where patriotism trumps politics. Where the American flag is displayed proudly, and frequently, and where military veterans are society's true celebrities." BY STEVEN BILLUPS
The David C. Dolby AMVETS Post 2 held a Memorial Day Service at its post in Long Neck May 30. Several members of the post gave remarks and poems were read honoring the fallen during the ceremony. Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown, spoke to the audience. The service concluded with the laying of a wreath at the flagpole in front of the post home.
