Delaware Realtors collect donations for Food Bank

June 20, 2022

Real estate professionals in Delaware came together during the 2022 National Realtor Volunteer Days to donate 598 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Delaware.

Monetary donations of more than $2,000 also were contributed to the food bank.

The Sussex County Association of Realtors, Kent County Association of Realtors and New Castle County Board of Realtors collected food donations June 6-9 at locations throughout the state.

Donations were delivered June 10 to the Delaware Association of Realtors office in Dover, and sorted for distribution to the Food Bank of Delaware locations in Milford and Newark.

"Historically, we have been big supporters of the food bank and all they do to help provide food to those in need,” said George Thomasson, Sussex County Association of Realtors president. “Food, like housing, is a basic necessity for survival, so it was an honor to play a part in this event.”

The National Realtor Volunteer Days initiative sponsored by the National Association of Realtors showcases Realtors’ commitment to improving the communities in which they live and work.

The term Realtor is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of Realtors and subscribes to its strict code of ethics. According to NAR, almost 66% of Realtors across the country volunteer monthly.

“Thank you to our Realtor members across the state who participated in the food drive,” said Wes Stefanick, Delaware Association of Realtors CEO. “A true testament to the Realtor spirit and commitment to our communities.”
