Delaware Tech honored for work to promote student success

March 4, 2024

Delaware Technical Community College is one of six institutions nationwide to be designated a 2024 Leader College of Distinction by Achieving the Dream, in recognition of its work to promote and sustain its student success efforts. ATD, a national, reform-focused nonprofit dedicated to advancing community colleges as hubs of economic and social mobility in their communities, previously named Delaware Tech a Leader College in 2022.

The Leader College designations recognize Delaware Tech’s early implementation of student success strategies that proved to be successful over time. The awards indicate every person affiliated with the institution is committed to ensuring success for all students.

“We are honored to again have our hard work recognized by Achieving the Dream,” said Dr. Mark T. Brainard, Delaware Tech president. “The Leader College of Distinction Award is a testament to the college’s continued efforts to help our students achieve their academic goals so they can succeed in the workforce upon graduation.”

Leader Colleges of Distinction must show improvement in three or more student outcome measurements and show that they have reduced equity gaps for at least two student groups. By reducing those gaps, the college is removing obstacles that prohibit students from achieving their academic goals.

Delaware Tech joined the ATD Network in 2018. It includes more than 300 colleges committed to supporting student success and advancing equity at their institutions and throughout their communities. ATD Leader Colleges play an important role in accelerating adoption of effective practices within the ATD Network and across higher education.
