Winners of Delaware Watercolor Society’s juried exhibition at Nassau Valley Vineyards were announced during the May 11 opening reception. The society also recognized nine new signature members.

A collection of 39 paintings representing 24 area artists was selected for the exhibit by juror and awards judge Ellen Elmes. Ribbons, monetary awards and certificates were presented to the selected artists by Delaware Watercolor Society President Marjorie Wuestner.

For “Cafe Monet,” the first-place award went to Christine Heyse, recipient of the MW and Anne Hughes Award. Second-place honors went to Isabel Pizzolato for “Farm Fresh,” and third place was awarded to “Dave” by Winifred Way. Honorable mentions went to Anne Crown-Cyr for “Garden Peony, Sarah Bernhardt”; Kathleen Cropper for “Blue Heron”; and Joan Fabbri for “Winery Welcome.”

In recognition of their exemplary artistic efforts, the honor of signature member was presented to: Kym Bellerose, Jane Coonce, Brad Hastings, Charlotte Hughes, Joan Judge, Wendy Leddy, Judy Olsen, Cindy Strouse and Winifred Way. Isabel Pizzolato, signature membership chair, presented each awardee a canvas tote memento.

The society organizers extend sincere thanks to Nassau Valley Vineyards for hosting the exhibit, and to the staff and volunteer members who made it possible. The exhibit will be on display through Wednesday, May 31.
