DelDOT Name That Plow student entries due Dec. 5
As winter approaches, the Delaware Department of Transportation is launching its fifth annual Name That Plow contest for elementary school students across the state.
Over the past four years, students have come up with creative winning snowplow names including Ice Ice Bladey, Melton John, Blades of Flurries and Darth Blader.
“Our snowplow crews work hard in difficult conditions to clear our roads and make them safe for travel,” said Shanté Hastings, DelDOT secretary. “The Name That Plow contest gives students a fun way to learn about our winter operations and see their creativity in action.”
One winner from each county will be selected and will have a snowplow visit their school. Submissions can be made as a class or from individual students.
Entries will be accepted via email until 11:59 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, at linktr.ee/delawaredot.
Submissions should include school name, plow name, class/teacher/student’s name and grade.
DelDOT has more than 300 pieces of snow-removal equipment statewide, and it is responsible for treating and plowing almost 14,000 lane miles of roadway. For more information about DelDOT’s winter storm operations, visit the DelDOT Snow FAQ webpage.
