DelDOT rep should be added to Sussex P&Z

September 9, 2025

I truly appreciated the letter by Carol Stutts, "Poor planning creates stressful situation," dated Aug. 29. She hit upon a great idea that can only improve the situation locally.

She stated that it is time for a moratorium on all new construction until the infrastructure meets the demands of the greedy developers. I would like to comment that I realistically do not see a moratorium in the future; however, there is something that could easily be accomplished before a miracle like that happens.

Sussex County Council should pass a resolution and request that a DelDOT official be appointed to become the sixth member of the planning & zoning commission, and be actively involved in decisions the group is granting. It would be far easier to alleviate a problem before it becomes a crisis, and with the expertise of this individual, things can only improve. They certainly have the expertise to add to the current and future demands that will continue to arise in the future.
