December 9, 2021

The Delmarva Christian girls’ basketball squad grounded Holly Grove Christian School 64-24 Dec. 6 to move to 3-0 in ESIAC conference play. They have outscored their opponents by an average of 43 points in three games.

Junior Ainsley Bell led the Royals with 21 points while tallying eight assists and four steals. Kaela Mitchell scored 17 points, collected 15 steals and snagged four rebounds in the game. Sierra Troyer tallied 17 points with six steals, four rebounds and three assists. Evelyn Jensen scored four to go with four rebounds. The sophomore squad of Maggie Kwiatkowski, Lily Hutt, Ryley McCluskey and Mia Elliott teamed to score five points, grab six rebounds, and garner two assists and 10 steals.

"We came out a little flat defensively," said Royals head coach Jedidiah Roach. "We made some adjustments and did a better job in the second quarter. We are constantly improving and developing, hoping to get better and better. I felt like Kaela was extremely active. She had 15 steals, and she was everywhere. Sierra did a great job as well. If we can consistently play tough, hard-nosed defense, we will surprise many."
