Delmarva Christian girls’ basketball runs past Jags 60-6

Delmarva Christian senior Ainsley Bell led all scorers with 17 points in a 60-6 running-clock victory over Salisbury Christian Jan. 10 in Georgetown. The Royals move to 8-0 on the season. 

Bell also garnered four rebounds, two assists, five steals and a block. Mia Elliot, Bella Marinelli and Lilly Hutt each added nine points in the win.

Evelyn Bohinski grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked four shots. Marinelli and Ryley McCluskey each had five assists and two steals. Josephine Peranteau and Elliott made six steals.

Layni Dukes and Taylor Lowe were crucial off the bench with six rebounds and two blocks.

“We are always thankful for wins,” said Royals coach Jedidiah Roach. “The girls are playing hard and with energy. We have lessons to learn from this particular win that we will address in practice to prepare for upcoming challenges. This isn't the finished product. We will continue to grow and develop.”

Salisbury Christian’s Lydia Kelly scored four points in the loss.

He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
