Delmarva Christian field hockey’s eighth-grade goalie Carsyn Riddle faced 40 shots and stopped an impressive 23, as Sts. Peter & Paul shutout the Royals 17-0 Sept. 17 at the DE Turf Sports complex in Frederica.
The Royals are 2-3 on the season, while the Sabres’ move to 3-2.
The two teams battled each other and Mother Nature, as a steady rain poured down on the turf.
“We are working really hard, but maybe we need a little more work on our teamwork and communication,” said Royals captain Alyse Potter. “It was really slippery out here for both teams.”
“We need a little change of mindset,” said senior Eve Bohinski. “Any loss brings you down a little no matter what. We just need to stick together as a team. It’s just one loss. We’re a young team, and as a senior, we have to be encouraging to the young players.”
The Royals travel to Gunston School Friday, Sept. 19.
