Delmarva Teen Challenge holds spring banquet

March 10, 2018

Delmarva Teen Challenge held its Annual Spring Dinner Banquet March 3 at Crossroad Community Church. The event featured a dinner, music by the DTC Choir and the DTC Band, testimonials from students and a keynote address by the Rev Tim Dilena.

Dilena, lead pastor at Our Savior’s Church in Lafayette, La., spoke about Teen Challenge and encouraged the congregation to donate money to build another facility for women, “Home of Hope.” In his sermon he used the movie “Gladiator” to get his message across. He showed how by linking arms that they are stronger than an individual. He used the message to encourage the congregation to join together, and raise the money need to establish the “Home of Hope.”

Several students from DTC gave their testimonials on how the program changed their lives. DTC graduate David Sagers said that Teen Challenge saved his marriage. He went on to say, “The closer I get to Jesus, the farther I get from drugs.”

DTC is a faith-based addiction treatment program located in Seaford. At Delmarva Teen Challenge they teach men principles with purpose. Through biblical principles they help men define who they are, and provide them with the tools needed to assist them in the process of recovery. A rigorous and regimented program, Teen Challenge offers both personal growth, and group studies and counseling.

Vocational training programs are available, varying according to center location. Each student learns to apply biblical principles to the challenges of every day life through practical processes. Teen challenge is not an easy program. Consisting of several phases over a 12-month period, each student has a very structured environment.

However; thousands of graduates nationally will say that it's worth the effort. DTC believes teaching faith in Jesus Christ instills a new nature and alters the behavior that allows the entire person to heal. Teen Challenge firmly believes, and results show, that an individual can establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ if he wishes to find permanent freedom from life-controlling issues.

This central spiritual dynamic is the foundation upon which all aspects of the Teen Challenge program are built. For more information go to www.delawareteenchallenge.org
