Dennis R. Valentine, retired manager
Dennis R. Valentine passed away to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014.
He was honorably discharged in 1955 after serving in the New Jersey National Guard and two years active duty in the U.S. Army. He was employed at General Electric Credit as a branch manager in Sarasota, Fla. After returning to Maryland, Dennis was employed by the Knights of Columbus as a Fraternal Insurance Conseler Fellow for 20 years.
After retirement, he resided in Rehoboth Beach, Milford and Lewes to present. His activities included travel, photography, gardening, visiting local state parks and beach resorts for bird watching, local musical productions and radio re-enactments with his wife Valerie. His passions were the New York Yankees and Notre Dame football.
Dennis is predeceased by his parents AD Valentine and Ida (Smaniotto) Valentine of Vineland, N.J.; wife Joyce (Martin); son Ronald D.; and brothers Eugene T. and John M. Valentine. His survivors include his beloved wife, Valerie A. Valentine of Lewes; sons Bryan R. Valentine of Severna Park, Md., and Joseph P. and Mary Valentine of Shepherdstown, W.Va. He will be missed dearly by many nephews, nieces and their children.
Dennis was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 28.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon, Monday, Nov 10, at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 North Charles St. in Baltimore, Md. Interment will be at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, Md. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.
