Dierdre G. Chimenti, loved the beach

Deirdre Giacoma Chimenti, 61, of Wilmington, formerly of Ridley Park, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 after a long illness.

Dee worked at DEXSTA Federal Credit Union in Wilmington since 1981, and was most recently vice president, assessment and lending and collection. She was a graduate of Brandywine High School and the University of Delaware. She was also a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.

Dee enjoyed the city of Philadelphia and frequently attended the theatre, museums and restaurants around the city. She also loved the beach and spent time each summer and throughout the year in Wildwood, N.J., and Rehoboth Beach.

Dee is survived by her husband, Joseph Chimenti of Wilmington; a daughter, Christina Hepperlen and her husband Mark of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; two grandsons, Mark and Connor Hepperlen, also of Mt. Laurel; a brother, Fran Giacoma and his wife Beth of Lewes; a nephew, Michael and his wife Gretchen of Albany, N.Y.; and a sister, Anne Barretta and her husband Frank of Cresskill, N.J.; and nieces Nicole and Justine Barretta, also of Cresskill. Dee's mother, Madeline C. Giacoma of Wilmington, also survives her. Her father, Nicholas F. Giacoma, passed away in 1987.

Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, and 8 to 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Ninth and DuPont streets, Wilmington. Burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801.
