Dogfish Dash is not a race for dogs

1,000 runners compete in Milton
September 28, 2022

No dogs are permitted in the Dogfish Dash, but before you can say designer doodle, a sprinkling of loving and loyal trotters, pacers and prancers loped along on leashes as 1,000 runners completed the off-centered distance of 3.8 miles around the perimeter of Milton.

Dylan Smiley disabled his cruise control and went after it, running a 5:05 pace to snatch first place in 19:20. Matt Marcini of York, Pa., was second overall and masters winner in 20:50. Tim McCormick, Joey Andrisani and Francisco Puac rounded out the top five, all running a sub-six-minute pace.

Shelly Karsnitz of Milton was the overall women’s winner in 24:14. Susan Dunn, a former Delmar hockey player, won the women’s masters race in 27:05.

The top 106 runners ran under an eight-minute pace per mile.
