Donald Patrick Monaghan, avid golfer

May 17, 2020

Donald Patrick Monaghan, 86, passed away peacefully  April 25, 2020, due to complications of Multiple Dysplastic Syndrome.  Don will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was also an avid golfer and a longtime member of Rehoboth Beach Country Club. He was born Dec. 29, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa. Don married his soulmate Patricia Gengo May 19, 1957; they were married for 63 years.

Donald served two years in the U.S. Navy, put himself through night school earning a degree from La Salle University and ultimately worked at Playtex for over 30 years.  He and Patricia moved to Rehoboth Beach to live full time in the early 1990s and spent winters in Vero Beach, Fla. Family was Donald's main priority.  He was always there for love and support and was the "go to" guy for life advice.  He had many great lines, "work hard - play hard, never stop learning, be a sponge, life is a journey not a destination."  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Don is survived by his wife Patricia; sons Craig and Todd Monaghan; daughters, Sharon Donovan and Gayle Monaghan; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A  Mass and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
