June 9, 2012

The second running of the Dos Locos 5K on June 3, which took off from Wilmington Avenue and the Boardwalk, attracted 198 runners, most of them muy loco naturally; it's just the nature of the competition.

The craziest competition occurred in the 70-74 male category, where the first three places, garnered by Paul Keifer in 28:14, Hal Carrier in 28:22 and Jack Noel in 28:35 were separated by just 21 seconds.

Charlie Macintire, 57,  former Cape distance runner for coach Tom Hickman, won the 55-59 age group in 22:24.

Matt Dunn of Trappe, Md., was the overall winner in 17:15, followed by Clark Knox of Cockeysville, Md., in 17:40 .

Brooke Magni of Lancaster, Pa., was the first woman to finish, in 18:55.

The next Seashore Striders race will be the ninth running of the DRFC Blue-Gold All-Star 5K at 8 a.m., Saturday,  June 9, at Irish Eyes on Anglers Road in Lewes.
