Dr. Jeff Hilovsky files to run for House District 4 seat
Dr. Jeffrey Hilovsky, a Republican, filed June 14 to run for the Delaware House of Representatives District 4 seat. Hilovsky is a veteran, retired small business owner, consultant and philanthropist.
Hilovsky, a lifelong public servant and co-founder of Sussex Eye Center, seeks to promote and restore conservative values in Delaware. Hilovsky is a retired colonel serving in the Air Force active duty and reserves. He provided wartime leadership as medical commander for the 512th Air Wing at Dover Air Force Base. Over his military career, which spans more than 25 years, his career service included the Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan wars. While fulfilling his patriotic duties, Hilovsky co-founded Sussex Eye Center, which grew to a four-location practice during his tenure.
He is the founder of the Leadership is a Lifestyle program. Hilovsky provides an active, practical toolkit of principles and practices for the next generation of community leaders to use and grow. According to a press release announcing his candidacy, he devised, implemented and teaches his Leadership is a Lifestyle program as a volunteer. His program is shared with students in multiple high schools across southern Delaware, where he builds upon his firsthand experiences and those of known leaders to excite and encourage his audience to seek better of and for themselves, building on character, personal conduct and the decision-making principles of values-based servant leadership. He has personally coordinated speaking visits to high schools by notables such as the CEO of DuPont, the former White House executive housekeeper for seven U.S. presidents, and an executive who worked with the Carter Center and the World Health Organization to nearly eradicate Guinea worm disease.
“I believe our country has changed on our watch, and we need to leave a legacy of respect, dignity, integrity and service before self,” said Hilovsky in a press release. “That means action and accountability for all of us.”
Hilovsky said he is focused on the future, and he includes public safety, infrastructure, economic development and prosperity for all Delawareans as key initiatives. He said he is focused on preparing the next generation of leaders by improving and strengthening education and parental involvement in school curriculum. Hilovsky’s platform includes making sure the vision and plan to secure a dignified future for aging citizens is clear, sustainable and actionable. Sustaining the environment is another priority.
