Dr. Joseph Farrell joins Orthopaedic Associates of Southern Delaware

January 17, 2019

Orthopaedic Associates of Southern Delaware welcomes Dr. Joseph Farrell to its Sussex County-based orthopaedic practice.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Joe Farrell to our team to expand upon our total joint replacement capabilities,” said Dr. Gita Pillai, OASD president. “Our private practice of fellowship-trained physicians is committed to providing the best orthopaedic care to the families of Lewes, our surrounding communities, and our year-round visitors. We are happy to bring on Dr. Farrell and to continue to grow our practice to match the needs of our growing community.”

Farrell has been successfully practicing orthopaedics in Sussex County since 2015. He is board certified and fellowship trained in hip and knee replacement surgery, and will be a tremendous asset to expanding the joint replacement program at OASD. Farrell will perform both inpatient and outpatient procedures, and is committed to helping his patients achieve their personal goals. He is focused on optimizing post-surgical outcomes with a combination of excellent surgical technique, disciplined pre- and post-operative care, and use of the latest generation of total hip and knee implants.

A native of southern New Jersey, Farrell is a graduate of Villanova University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His stellar medical training included five years of orthopaedic residency working in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Boston, along with some of the most renowned joint replacement surgeons in the nation.

Following his East Coast residency, Farrell moved to Texas, along with his wife and two daughters, where he completed fellowship training in adult reconstruction at the Texas Hip and Knee center in Fort Worth. In one year of fellowship, Farrell performed more than 600 joint replacements and was expertly trained in cutting-edge, minimally invasive hip and knee replacement techniques.

In his spare time, Farrell enjoys biking and playing with his two young daughters. He also enjoys building furniture and woodworking in his shop.

Farrell works for OASD in its Lewes and Millsboro locations, and will likely expand his services to other surrounding communities.
