Tim Dukes has announced that he is seeking the House of Representatives 40th District seat.
Dukes, a Republican, was born and raised in Laurel and now resides near Phillips Landing. He is the youngest son of Dale Dukes, former president of the Sussex County Council. Rep.
Clifford "Biff" Lee has decided not to seek re-election after serving the 40th District for 22 years, thus paving the way for Dukes to seek the seat in Dover.
Dukes attended Laurel public schools and graduated from Epworth Christian School in 1982. He graduated from Valley Forge Christian College in 1986 and served as a youth pastor in Farmville, Va., later pioneered a church in Ocean City, Md., and now is the senior pastor at Central Worship Center in Laurel.
Dukes said, "I have spent my entire life loving and serving people. I want to take my ability to connect, reach out, and unify people of different backgrounds to the state legislature in Dover. I desire to bring common sense politics that are relevant and impactful to each person throughout this community."
Dukes has been active in the community for several years. He has coached Little League baseball, high school basketball, Pop Warner football and junior high softball; served on the Community Benefit Committee at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Wellness Center Committee at Laurel High School, Laurel L.E.A.D, Superintendent Feasibility Search Committee, served on two school boards, president of the Laurel Ministerial Association, a member of the Good Samaritan Board, friend of Delmarva Teen Challenge and led over 40 overseas missions trips with community members of all ages.
Dukes and his wife Dottie have four grown children. Dukes believes that family, life, and freedom are essential in serving the 40th District. He looks forward to continuing the values instilled in him by his family and his faith while serving the community.
