The Eagles stay alive in the playoff race

December 24, 2021

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Football Team by the score of 27-17. After the first quarter of the game, I had a bad feeling about the outcome, since Washington had a 10-0 lead. For the rest of the game, though, the Eagles’ whole team showed up and played very well. For the last five games, the team has been relying on their impressive running game. It looks like 1970s football, but whatever works is fine with me. They have averaged over 150 yards a game running the football, which is pretty impressive. As everyone knows by now, this game was moved to Tuesday because of COVID issues with Washington’s team. I don’t care when any of the rest of the games this season are played. Everyone should be happy to complete the season in any way possible, given the situation everyone is in right now.

As an aside, I was quite impressed with the performance of Washington’s starting quarterback Garrett Gilbert, because he wasn’t even on the team at the beginning of the week. He was hired because of COVID issues with their other quarterbacks. Last year, he was good for the Dallas Cowboys in his one start for them.

The Eagles next game is against the Giants on Sunday. I hope the team is still angry from their first game against the Giants. That was a terrible loss and they sure don't want to revisit that.

I was very surprised how well Tiger Woods played in his return to competitive golf over the weekend. He finished second in the tournament with his son Charlie, age 12, who also played very well. However, I will be very surprised if he plays in the Masters in April because it is a very hilly course and he said he was getting tired just walking the flat course in this tournament. I think a more realistic goal is for him is to play next July in the last major of next year, the British Open at St. Andrews. That is a flat course and it gives him a lot more time to get stronger and possibly compete at that level.

As of right now they are still having the local holiday tradition basketball tournament Slam Dunk to the Beach. I hope everyone has a great time. Happy holidays to everyone and man I hope 2022 is a lot better!
