An early 20th century crossing of Broadkill River
August 10, 2021
Judging by the automobiles, this photo of the bridge over Broadkill River dates back to the 1930s or 1940s. The bridge carried traffic traveling on Route 14 over the river. Route 14 in that area is now known as Delaware Route 1. This single-leaf drawbridge dating back to the mid-1920s replaced an earlier swing bridge on this same site.
