Eleanor J. Short, dedicated homemaker

Eleanor J. Short, 85, of Millsboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at her home.

Eleanor was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Milton, daughter of the late Uhland T. Pepper and the late Hannah (Johnson) Pepper.  

She was a homemaker proudly raising her four children. Eleanor enjoyed puzzles, reading, gardening and taking care of her flowers.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dale Short in 1999; and a brother Toby Pepper. She is survived by two sons, Reese Short, and Brian Short and his wife Debbie; two daughters, Jeannette Short, and Gail Uffelman and her husband Daniel; two grandsons, Daniel Uffelman Jr., and Justin Uffelman and his wife Samantha; and two granddaughters, Stacy Harper and her husband Mark, and Rebecca Bosley. Eleanor is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Malachi Bosley, Landon Bosley, Logan Harper, Autumn Uffelman and River Uffelman; and a sister-in-law, Janice Pepper.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 24, at Millsboro Cemetery.
