Elks golf event raises $17K for veterans programs

November 10, 2025

Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 held a charity golf tournament Oct. 1 to support funding for veterans in Delaware.

The event raised more than $17,400, and the Elks are on track to give $20,000 to veterans’ causes this year.

The blustery day began with dew on the greens and a dry forecast. Prior to opening ceremonies, the Elks veterans committee members presented a scholarship check of $1,000 to Canines Assisting Service Heroes, which was matched with another $1,000 of personal funds from Elks member Karen Palmer. The CASH program provides deserving Delaware veterans with a loyal companion to help them with everyday life, along with a veterinary care plan.

Following the patriotic opening ceremony, 124 players competed in support of the cause and for chances to win prizes.

After play, participants gathered at the Elks lodge for lunch, golfing awards and raffles.
