Elks visit Stockley Center for holiday celebration
Santa Claus and several Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 members recently visited the Stockley Center to deliver Christmas cards and gifts, and celebrate the season with residents and staff.
The Stockley Center in Georgetown is a Medicaid-certified care facility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The 50-bed center provides both intermediate and skilled nursing care for people requiring a variety of complex supports and medical needs, and assists residents in meeting their physical, mental, personal and social goals.
The party was fun and exciting, with musical entertainment and singing provided by Joy Schreck, past exalted ruler, and lots of dance moves by all. Each of the 34 residents received special gifts requested through the Elks’ angel tree project. Members shopped for and wrapped the wish list items to be passed out at the holiday celebration.
All gathered around as Carol DePalma, Elks community outreach member, read aloud the poem, “The Night Before Christmas.”
