Entrepreneur starts Delaware Female Creatives group online

December 5, 2020

Although the pandemic has created an environment that makes business networking difficult, local business owners are finding creative ways to collaborate.

With the holiday season approaching, business owners are heading online to promote their products and collaborate with other businesses as well.

Heather Nunery of Smyrna started the Facebook group Delaware Female Creatives to establish a central location for Delaware-based creatives, influencers, marketers, personal trainers and women from all industries to combine forces. Group members are encouraged to connect and collaborate with one another.

Nunery owns and operates two Delaware-based businesses herself, HMV Designs and La Nunery Apothecary. She said she saw the value in collaborating with other Delaware-based females leading the way in their respective industries.

“It was so important for me to start the group because I felt like we, as women, didn’t have a safe space to collaborate and ask questions and learn from each other. So when I saw the opportunity, I started the group, and I’m so happy I did. I love seeing people work together. It brings me so much joy,” she said.

Group members are encouraged to provide links to their business sites, share information about services they offer and post photos of their projects.

“Just two months after I started the group, I saw two businesses owners collaborate and help each other. I was so happy that I hurried and told my husband that I brought two random people together who probably would have never met ordinarily. I still love seeing it. It never gets old,” Nunery said.

Group members are planning to spotlight local businesses and ramp up efforts to connect business owners. Nunery said she is excited to see the group continue to evolve and looks forward to working with other women in the First State who have new, innovative ideas.
