Eugene Leo Bondoch Sr., ferry retiree

Eugene Leo Bondoch Sr., 84, of Lewes, passed away at his home Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017. He was born Jan. 3, 1933, in Reading, Pa., son of the late Leo and Cecilia (Jankowski) Bondoch.

He was the beloved husband of Rosemarie D. Bondoch (Suglia) and loving father of four children: Eugene L. Jr., Bernadette, M. Brendan and Anthony Mario. He was the son of the late Leo and Cecelia (Jankowski) and brother of the late Gerald.

Gene served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. Following his honorable service career in Trieste, Italy, he went to work at Firestone Tire and Rubber in Pottstown, Pa., and then the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board where he retired in 1997. After his retirement he moved to Lewes, where he worked for the Cape May-Lewes Ferry and retired again in 2012. Gene's hobbies included airplanes, models, painting, engineering, cars, language arts, dancing, clamming, crabbing, fishing and spending time with his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, at noon, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
