Fabulous Faces offers wide range of skin services

Skin is in at Fabulous Faces.

From chemical peels and waxing to laser treatments, facials and dermaplane treatments, Fabulous Faces offers a wide range of skin-care services and is open seven days a week.

Fabulous Faces owner and permanent makeup specialist Lisa Brown said several of her staff of aestheticians and laser treatment specialists have medical backgrounds, including two licensed practical nurses and a medical director to oversee treatments.

"The concept of this business is to be able to guide our clients to their goal of beautiful, healthier skin," Brown said. "We have a whole protocol of services to guide your skin to where you want it to be."

The aesthetics center is not a salon or a spa, she said. Instead, Fabulous Faces specializes in providing advanced skin care for the face and hands, removing layers of dead skin to reveal fresh faces and soft hands.

"These skin care services combined with laser services can take 10 years off a women's face without invasive surgery," Brown said.

Because the idea of skin services can be nerve-wracking for some clients,  soft colors and soothing music greet clients when they come in the door of the Henlopen Plaza office off Route 1. Brown said everything is aimed at helping clients relax before they go into one of six treatment rooms with an aesthetician for services, Brown said.

"We want our clients to feel very special, like they are in very good hands because these things can be a little scary sometimes," she said.

When clients receive services, they fill out intake forms not unlike the paperwork at doctor's offices, listing medical histories and current medications so the staff can check for interactions and tailor treatment to individual clients.

They also fill out a form listing eye color and hair color, as well as genetic background and heritage to rate clients on a Fitzpatrick scale that reveals tendencies toward inflammation or tanning.

"The things we do here can cause inflammation, so that is very important," aesthetician Jeannette Mills said. "Then we treat based on a client's concerns."

The focus of many treatments, Mills said, is to remove the top layers of dead skin, revealing fresher, younger skin underneath.

"We want to get out with the old and stimulate new, better behaving skin cells," she said.

In addition to skin services, the aesthetics center also has a retail area so clients can purchase makeup and home accessories on the way out.
