A Sunday morning drizzle with light winds was close enough to perfect weather for the Cape Henlopen field hockey camp at Champions Stadium. Six teams of kindergarteners through to fourth-graders practiced then played cross-field games for the first 90 minutes.
“The young kids are loving it, and they really do improve so much in a short amount of time,” said coach Debbie Windett.
The cross-field games featuring the younger athletes are played without goalies.
The middle school players come onto the field at 10:30 a.m. and work until noon.
The camp is designed to be friendly and fun while teaching kids the game of field hockey.
