The League of Women Voters of Sussex County, Delaware will host its third annual Defending Democracy Film Festival Fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, Lewes.
The evening will begin with a reception featuring light snacks and refreshments provided by DiFebo's Restaurant & Market, as well as a 50/50 raffle. Half of raffle proceeds go to the league and the other half to the winner. Drinks will be available at the snack bar, with proceeds benefiting the Rehoboth Beach Film Society.
The film festival features a collection of short films reflecting the breadth and influence of women’s experience in contemporary society and culture, including “The Congress,” “Black Girls Play: The Story of Hand Games,” “A Movement Against the Transparency of the Stars of the Seas,” “Projecting Protest” and “Queen of Basketball.”
Ticket and raffle sales proceeds go directly to the all-volunteer, nonpartisan league in support of Defending Democracy activities in Sussex County. Tickets are available at rehobothfilm.com.
