At the November meeting of the Sussex County Volunteer Firefighters Association, firefighters took time to honor children who were winners in this year’s fire prevention poster and essay contest.
Each year, students from kindergarten through third grade have the opportunity to develop a poster on an assigned fire prevention topic. Students in fourth grade to eighth grade prepare essays on the assigned topics.
Special circumstances took place this year as Aurora Miller, second-place winner from Rehoboth Elementary, experienced serious health issues since she prepared her poster. So that Miller could be part of the award program, arrangements were made to present her award via Skype.
