First State Community Action Agency cut the ribbon June 1 on its capital renovations project in a ceremony sponsored by the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. In 2010, First State embarked on a $900,000 capital campaign to renovate and transform its 70-year-old former warehouse facility into a 21st century, professional facility.
Support from community members, banks, foundations and organizations such as Sussex County Council, Welfare Foundation, Longwood Foundation, Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches and Fulton Bank and others enabled the human service agency to complete their fundraising and renovation efforts in just two years.
Shown presenting an award in appreciation to campaign advisory member Gary Grunder are (l-r) First State Community Action Agency Executive Director Bernice Edwards, First State Community Action Agency Board President Peggy Strine and Grunder.
