Floral Inspirations to give out bouquets Oct. 21

Floral Inspirations will be handing out bouquets of flowers as part of the Society of American Florists’ annual Petal it Forward event, starting at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21. Following CDC guidelines, distribution will be via curbside pickup, while supplies last, at 524 East Savannah Road, Lewes.

Two bouquets will be given to each attendee – one to keep and one to give to a local hero. The purpose of Petal It Forward is to illustrate the positive benefits of giving and receiving flowers.

This is Floral Inspiration’s third year participating in the initiative. Given the isolation brought on by COVID-19, this year’s event is even more meaningful. The pandemic has taken a toll on many people’s mental health, and science has proven that flowers reduce stress and anxiety, and make people happy.

Participants can help brighten someone’s day and provide a small gesture to say thank you by giving their second bouquet to a hero such as a nurse, a grocery store cashier, a delivery person or a teacher; the opportunities are endless.
