Focus Multisports donates race proceeds to Dewey Lions

Focus Multisports Race Directors Ernie Felici and Rick Hundley presented $5,000 to the Dewey Beach Lions Club Foundation May 3 in recognition of their support of the Coastal Delaware Running Festival 5K held April 21. The Dewey Beach Lions Club provided the pre- and post-race venue featuring bottomless Bloody Marys donated by The Starboard.

The 4th annual festival, presented by Grotto Pizza, featured three days of events including a Boston Qualifying Marathon, Half Marathon, 9K and challenge races April 22. The festival also supported the Delaware Seashore Preservation Foundation and Fort Miles Historical Association in the efforts with Delaware State Parks to restore the World War II Fire Control Tower just south of Dewey Beach along Route 1, an effort started years ago by Dewey Lion Club member and former Dewey Beach Mayor Bob Frederick. The running festival also benefits many regional Sussex County charities with tens of thousands of dollars donated to date.
