Friendly’s Restaurant reopens in Rehoboth Beach

July 11, 2022

Nothing pairs better in the summertime than ice cream and the beach.

Fortunately for Rehoboth Beach locals and visitors, Friendly’s Restaurant reopened July 1, showcasing renovations including a new drive-thru feature. In addition to Friendly’s famous ice cream, the family-favorite restaurant is now serving delicious food from a revamped menu.

“When we temporarily closed our restaurant, we saw it as an opportunity to come back better than ever,” said Craig Erlich, CEO of Friendly’s Restaurants. “We’re thrilled to be opening our doors to guests again with a new and improved space. Our brand-new drive-thru will give locals even more ways to enjoy their favorite dishes and spend time together.”

The grand reopening came just in time for guests to celebrate summer with the launch of Friendly's Lobster Festival menu, featuring a variety of tasty dishes such as fiery lobster pasta, shrimp and lobster quesadillas, and the classic lobster roll.

And guests should make sure to save room for ice cream. Friendly’s Superman ice cream sundae – featuring a swirl of red, yellow and blue fruit punch-flavored ice cream, plus super-colorful fruity vanilla swirls, chocolate sauce, whipped topping and a quintessential cherry – is back for the summer, joining Fribbles and other decadent sundaes on the refreshed menu.

With the restaurant located a short drive from the coast, Friendly’s fans can enjoy their dishes in-store or grab their favorite ice cream to go and head to the beach.

“Friendly’s is a staple for many communities and families to gather and eat good food with even better company,” Erlich said. “The Rehoboth Beach location is a shining example of what makes Friendly’s great, keeping to the traditions that make us who we are, while still working to make it even better.”

Friendly’s is at 19022 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach.
