Gary G. Lofland, lived a full life

September 27, 2023
Gary G. Lofland, 75, of Quinby, Va., formerly of Rehoboth Beach, passed away at his home unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Gary, known as “Pop” or “Poppy” by loved ones, was the son of the late Willis and Sophie (Coffin) Lofland. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Gary graduated from Lewes High School in 1968. He was known in the community for the many construction projects and remodels he did over his career. Gary was also a proud member of Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge and Milton VFW. Later in life, you could find him tinkering in his garage, tending to his yard and garden beds, or watching his and Pat's flock of assorted farm birds, including their notorious pet turkey.

Gary loved his family and eagerly traveled back to Delaware with his wife to gather with their immediate family often.

Gary is survived by his adoring wife of almost 55 years, Patricia Lofland (Collison); two daughters, Kelly Riley-Newcomb and her husband Scott, and Amy Lofland-Jefferson and her fiancé Alberto Martinez. Gary had six grandchildren, Brittany Riley, Logan Riley, Theodore (Tucker) Jefferson, Cyle Jefferson, Taylor Jefferson and Jeweliana Martinez; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Lofland (Sue); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gary lived a full life spent with those who loved him. Although he has physically left this earth, his spirit and memories will live on within our hearts.
A private celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
