Weis temporarily evacuated

Weis grocery story in Lewes was temporarily evacuated Nov. 21 following a fire in the meat case, fire officials said.

The fire was reported about noon at the store on Savannah Road and was extinguished by 12:14 p.m., said Glenn Marshall of the Lewes Fire Department.

Lewes and other units were called to the scene, but there was no need for ventilation, Marshall said.

Shoppers returned to the store shortly after the fire was out.
