Grass Roots Rescue, a local foster-based dog rescue in Milton, recently held its annual Heels and Hooch gala at Dover Downs. It is the biggest fundraiser for the rescue.
A silent auction, dinner, cash bar and a DJ highlighted a fun evening of beautiful gowns and sharp-dressed men.
Yearly awards were given at the event. Receiving the Hooch’s Heart Award was volunteer Jana Lise Buttram. Oni Mccann was presented the Unsung Hero Award. Bri Townsley received the Ride or Die Award. The Rookie of the Year Award went to Alyse Ritzler, and Audrey Ostroski received the Volunteer of the Year Award.
“Grass Roots Rescue is incredibly grateful to all the sponsors, donors, volunteers and attendees that made the 2025 Heels and Hooch Gala a success,” said GRR founder Karli Crenshaw. “The funds raised from the gala will go directly toward helping the dogs that find their way to our rescue. It’s because of the support we receive from the community, through events like this, that we are able to make such a difference in the lives of dogs that need us the most.”
