Hammy’s Burgers & Shakes coming to Route 1 Rehoboth

Over the past two years, the St. Michaels, Md.-based company Ava’s Hospitality Group has opened two restaurants on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach – Ava’s Pizzeria & Wine Bar and Theo’s Steak, Side & Spirits.

Now, with the anticipated spring opening of Hammy’s Burgers & Shakes, the company will be opening its third Rehoboth restaurant – this time on Route 1. The restaurant will be located in the Shops At Sea Coast shopping center, near Safeway, in the space that was most recently Palate. The first Hammy’s Burgers & Shakes opened in 2021 in St. Michaels.

“We can’t wait to open a second Hammy’s in Rehoboth because everyone loves a fun place to grab a burger and a beer,” said Chris Agharabi, owner of Ava’s Hospitality Group, in a prepared statement. Hammy’s is named for Hammy, the lemon beagle of Agharabi.

According to a press release announcing the new restaurant, Hammy’s menu will have “decadent milkshakes for kids, boozy adult shakes, tater tots, chili and over 30 burgers,” including the “Philly Burger,” a burger piled extra high with steak, cheese and onion straws; “Sweet Emotion” burger smothered in sweet potato fries, honey, bacon and beagle sauce; and the “Mac & Cheesy” burger stuffed with gooey macaroni and cheese.

Impossible veggie burgers, turkey burgers and salads will also be on the menu. A full bar complete with beer, cocktails, wine and more will help hungry diners wash it all down.

Established in 2008, Ava’s Hospitality Group includes three Ava’s, three Theo’s, a commissary in Easton, Md., and the Hammy’s restaurants. 

The Rehoboth location of Hammy’s Burgers & Shakes, 19266 Coastal Highway, is set to open in April. It will offer dine-in and carryout, with online ordering. For more information, go to hammyburgers.com or email info@hammyshideout.com.
