Happy trails for Sea Witch Half Marathon

Friday storm gone like a turkey through the corn
November 3, 2021

A nor'easter Friday flyby caused coastal flooding and fields of debris, so Saturday's first Sea Witch Half Marathon looked doubtful. But by morning sunrise, the no-name Halloween storm was gone like a turkey through the corn.

A total of 91 runners completed the course, with Tyler Muse winning in 1:21:36 and Martin Rodriguez along for the ride in second at 1:21:37.

Tracey Ledoux and Karen Eller were the backpackers for the race, closing it down in 2:57:57.

Cindy Conant, 60, was the overall women’s winner in 1:33:42. Mike Sewell, 52, won the male masters 1:27:52.

Rebekah Hicks, 50, was female masters champion in 1:42:37.

Jake Landon, 22, rumbled to a third-place finish in 1:22:30. Landon would come back Sunday and win the Sea Witch 5K in a personal-best time of 16:58.

Joe Clancy, 56, former cub reporter for the local Whale newspaper, ran 1:45:19. He now covers harness racing.

Diane Marks, 53, of Dover won the 50-59 female category in 1:45:53, with Mardiny Ung in second at 1:48:54.

Tim Young, 61, dominated the 60-69 group, a fact he would find humorous, in 1:47:44.

Sally McCoy, 62, won the 60-69 women’s age group in 2:09:10.
