Harvey Boswell Day pays tribute to WWII veteran and POW

Sen. Ernie López, R-Lewes, and Speaker of the House Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach,  joined scores of well wishers in Angola Beach and Estates as the neighborhood celebrated Harvey Boswell Day Sept. 19.

Boswell is a veteran of World War II who spent nine months as a POW in Limburg, Germany, after being captured shortly following the Normandy invasion in June 1944. He was freed with hundreds of others when the camp was liberated by the Russian Army in May 1945. Boswell was discharged in November 1945 and returned stateside where he soon married the love of his life, Elizabeth, and had a 30-year career with Westinghouse. Elizabeth and Harvey Boswell have been blessed with two daughters, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

López and Schwartzkopf presented a tribute on behalf of the Delaware General Assembly in honor of Elizabeth and Harvey Boswell.
