Helen Marie Brenner, loved to dance

April 6, 2020

Helen Marie Brenner, 99, of Lewes passed away peacefully at her home Friday, April 3, 2020, in Lewes, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.  Helen was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Harry and Minnie (Brenneisen) Rabiger.

Helen was a child acrobat, dancer and an athlete in high school, excelling in field hockey. She indulged these skills later in life with her love for dancing. Helen married the love of her life, Albert H. Brenner, who was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, who preceded her in death in 1987. Helen and Al were married March 7, 1942, just before Al reported for duty in Europe. She moved into the Woods Edge apartment complex in Lewes in 2010 from Abington, Pa., in order to be closer to her daughter. Until mobility issues slowed her down, she had been a regular at the Lewes CHEER Center. Diane wishes to acknowledge the compassionate and loving care of Helen's many caretakers and extends her heartfelt thanks to Delaware Hospice for their supportive services to Helen toward the end of her life.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Albert H. Brenner. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Miller and her husband Roy Miller of Lewes; her son, Harry Brenner and his wife Linda of Abington; her grandchildren: Deana Forrest and her husband Michael of Harrington, and Jason Miller and his wife Shelley of Charlotte, N.C.; her great-grandchildren: Ethan Forrest, Lauren Miller, Jordyn Miller and Madison Miller; her niece, Emma Germsheid of Mullins, N.J., and her cousin, Adora Rabinger Smith of Carlisle, Pa.

A private service officiated by Pastor Earle Baker of Bethel United Methodist Church will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment will be private at the Sunset Memorial Park, Huntingdon Valley, Pa., where she joins her beloved husband Al.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Brenner's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth St., Lewes, DE 19958.
