Holland Mills and Anthem neighbors clean up road in Milton

May 9, 2021

On a bright and breezy Saturday morning in Milton, two neighborhoods came together in celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day.

Members of the Holland Mills community teamed with their neighbors across the street at the Anthem community to spend the morning cleaning up trash along Walker Road and in their communities. Neighbors, young and old, arrived early and were ready for some cleanup action.

Along the route, the volunteers collected pounds of trash such as old beer cans, soda cans, food waste packaging, cigarette butts and even an old tire.

It was a fun time and a very rewarding time for all who participated. After the cleanup, all were invited for some Dunkin’ Donuts as a treat for their efforts.

The group extends thanks to Karen Spencer and Jean Bekeshka for organizing the cleanup, as well as all the volunteers who made this effort successful, and for showing some love to Mother Earth. Adults set an excellent example for the children who participated and the folks who drove by.

As stewards of the environment, participants remind everyone that people are just visitors here for a short time. Remember that unsightly waste can live on long past human lifetimes.
