Horseshoe Crab & Shorebird Festival to return May 28

April 30, 2022

The Milton Chamber of Commerce announced the 2022 Horseshoe Crab & Shorebird Festival is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 28, in downtown Milton.

The Horseshoe Crab & Shorebird Festival is a long-standing partnership among the Milton Chamber of Commerce, Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, and many other local nonprofit organizations.

The festival will serve as a fundraiser for the Friends of Prime Hook NWR, a 501c3 volunteer organization whose primary purpose is to assist the refuge staff in many areas such as public awareness, education and maintenance.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy a day of playing, shopping, learning, entertainment and eating. The Milton Memorial Park playground is open and the Milton Lions Club will be running its Milton Clipper Express train. Vendors, entertainment, food options and education will be located on the grassy lot next to the Lydia B. Cannon Museum in downtown Milton. More education and entertainment such as guided bird walks and touch tanks will be found at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

Returning this year is the Coastal Adventure Passport contest. The Milton chamber, the Friends of Prime Hook, the DuPont Nature Center, and UD-Delaware Sea Grant are again collaborating on a virtual scavenger hunt that can be completed on people’s own time, at any time, and will take them to beautiful local spots for viewing nature. Details on how and when to turn in the passport for a chance to win a prize are written on the document.
