Hunter Scott Sturgis, successful salesman

Hunter Scott Sturgis, 63, died peacefully, at home after a long illness, on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018.  Scott was born in Biloxi, Miss., second son of Jack and Becky Dirickson Sturgis, but grew up in Delmar, Md. 

In 1978, he married Linda Ann Johnson of Georgetown.  He worked for many years as a professional chef, and then enjoyed a very successful career in food service sales.  Scott died just five days before his and Linda's 40th wedding anniversary.

Survivors are wife Linda of Milford; brothers and their wives Carroll and Sandy Sturgis, and John and Laura Sturgis; father-in-law Elwood Johnson; sisters and brothers by marriage Marie and Walt Meding, Ivalene and Rob Still and Quintin and Maria Johnson.  He also has 10 nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and -nephews, with number eight due in October.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 22860 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, Friday, Sept. 21,  at 2 p.m.  Visitation and refreshments will follow the service in the church hall.  In lieu of flowers, if anyone wishes to make a charitable donation in Scott's name, please send it to your favorite charity.
