Huxtable demonstrates tolerance, respects different views

October 14, 2022

On the last day possible, I changed my lifelong party affiliation from Republican to Democrat. I did so to help forward the agenda of Russ Huxtable’s campaign for the 6th District Senate seat. After reviewing the current candidates, I have decided to vote independently so I may continue to choose candidates that represent my views.

Although I will still vote for some Republican candidates, I will not vote for a candidate who has previously voted no to firearm background checks, voted to maintain abortion as a punishable criminal offense, voted no to decriminalizing possession of a small amount of marijuana, was literally the only no vote for the use of Naloxone to save the life of any person in the midst of an overdose, voted no to marriage equality and no to prohibiting discrimination against gender identity.

The November election is our chance to demonstrate tolerance and respect for the many different views, lifestyles and passions of our entire community. I will vote no to legislating morality, and yes to candidates who know the difference.
