Immanuel Shelter celebrated with friends and supporters, Dec. 2 at CAMP Rehoboth Community Center with Bubbles and Bites the inaugural event to benefit the shelter. The Code Purple shelter is open a full five months from Dec. 1 to April 30. Director Janet Idema said this is a longer time span than previous years, because there are cold snaps in April and seasonal jobs and housing often don’t get started until May.
Donated items for the silent auction included a hand made 64-x-82-inch quilt donated by Deb Raynes. At the end of the evening a magnum of Perrier Jouet was opened and another was live auctioned. Champagne, sparkling and Prossecco tastings were provided by Oak Creek Wine and Spirits. Local chefs offered tastings from signature family recipes that will be used to create a cookbook.
