Individualized education program information session set Aug. 14

July 31, 2019

Special education consultant, academic coach, international speaker and author Dr. William Lane invites parents and guardians of special needs students to attend his workshop, Navigating the Individualized Education Program, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Lewes Public Library. The cost of the workshop is $20.

“This event is for parents of IEP-eligible students who are intimidated by the IEP process,” said Lane. “After attending this workshop, parents will better understand their role in the IEP process, who may and should attend the IEP meeting, terms used during the meeting, and active legislation that has been established to support their child’s unique educational needs. Ultimately, parents and guardians will be equipped with the tools and information necessary to be the best advocates for their child during their next IEP meeting.”

Dedicated to the success of all students, Lane has spent over 35 years providing educational services in Delaware. He has taught students with exceptional needs, facilitated graduate and undergraduate special education courses, worked as a school administrator, and served as a university program chair and professor. He has also led training programs for school districts and organizations, and has been a featured speaker at industry events, including the Milestones National Autism Conference and the California Association for the Education of Young Children Annual Conference.
