Inland Bays Garden Center features handcrafted tile art

The Inland Bays Garden Center in Frankford is showcasing the work of Mary Yeagley Bower as its featured local artist of the month during April.

Using simplistic, natural colors, Bower creates ceramic tiles with coastal figures cast in deep relief to highlight the focal point. Her handmade tiles are truly unique as the molds are made from original designs. 

A lot of time and care is put into the original to make it perfect before the mold is formed. To add additional depth to the design, iron oxide is applied before the final glaze. Bower finds beauty in the small details and unexpected places of the universe and its creatures.
