James 'Frank' Maule Jr., Diamond State retiree

James Franklin "Frank" Maule Jr., 77, of Millsboro, passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes. He was born Oct. 31, 1937, in Millington, Md., son of the late James Franklin and Myrtle (Bottomley) Maule Sr.

Frank was a graduate of William Penn High School, who proudly served his country and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. In 1959 he married the love of his life, Catherine Wisniewski June 6 at St. Elizabeth Church in Wilmington.

Frank enjoyed a 36-year career as a switchman with Diamond State Telephone in Wilmington. During his career with Diamond State Telephone, Frank played baseball on the company team. He also played and coached football for another company team, the TelStars.

After retirement Frank and his wife would relocate to Millsboro, where Frank volunteered for 16 years with Beebe Cardiac Rehabilitation. He loved getting together with the guys and playing a round of golf usually followed by lunch somewhere. Another pastime Frank enjoyed was boating with friends, meeting out on the water, tying up on the beach, enjoying food, conversation and relaxation. Frank loved life and having a good time with family and friends. He could light up a room with his infectious smile. Frank never met a stranger; once he met you, you were lifelong friends. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Amvets Post 2 in Millsboro.

In addition to his parents Frank was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie DeFilippis and Martha Melson. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Catherine M. Maule; two daughters, Ann Marie Mikolajewski and her husband David, and Christine Heiges and her husband Steve; one son, Frank Maule III and his wife Melissa; three granddaughters, Lauren and Madison Heiges and Danielle Mikolajewski; one brother, Richard Maule and his wife Megan; three sisters, June Davis, Myrtle Cooper and Ellen Lynam; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Mid Sussex Rescue, 31738 Indian Mission Road, Millsboro, DE 19966, or Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, 32628 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
