James William Gaskins, enjoyed the outdoors

James William Gaskins passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sept. 30, 2016. He was born on Jan. 4, 1933 to the late James Amos Gaskins and Gertrude Brown.

James was educated in the Baltimore City School system prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 16. He married his good friend and childhood sweetheart Florcelia (Flo) on Oct. 9, 1976, and he frequently referred to this union as one of the best decisions of his life. James and Flo loved to travel and they shared a love of the outdoors, which led them to relocate to Millsboro in 1991.

He is preceded in death by his parents James and Gertrude, his stepdaughter Desiree Lloyd, and his granddaughter, TaShaun Mallory. He is survived by his wife, Florcelia Gaskins, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other friends and family.

Celebration of life service will be held at St. John 2nd Baptist Church Friday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. Family and friends may call one hour prior to service.
