Janie Kay Wooters, woman of faith

Janie Kay Wooters, 66, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022, at TidalHealth Nanticoke, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 23, 1955, in Preston, Md., the daughter of the late Jacob W. and Mary Ann (Usilton) Wooters.

Janie was a 1973 graduate of Colonel Richardson High School.  She was formerly employed with the Maryland Public Safety and Correctional Services as a case management secretary at the Eastern Pre-Release Unit, a job that gave her great satisfaction.

Janie was a woman of faith who loved to sing about and worship her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Devoted to her church and church family at Stein Highway Church of God, she served as a praise team member and the nursery director.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David “Bullet” Wooters; and her sister, Marietta Ruth Wooters. She is survived by her beloved cat, Silver; her nieces, Erica Wooters and Genya Key; nephews, John Michael Jerling and Paul Jacob Jerling; and cousins, and many friends who will miss her greatly. She was a kind, loving person and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Janie’s Celebration of Life will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 27, at Stein Highway Church of God, 425 E. Stein Hwy., Seaford.

Final care for Ms. Wooters has been entrusted to Watson-Yates Funeral Home, 609 E. King St., Seaford.
